You have a choice of sightseeing this morning. Travel beyond Rome into the rolling countryside of the Campagna, following the ancient Appian Way through landscapes of farmland, villas, and hill towns. Pause in Castel Gandolfo, the medieval town overlooking Lake Albano that has served as the Popes' summer retreat for centuries, and explore the Papal Palace Gardens by eco-bus, discovering terraced lawns, ancient ruins, and fragrant plantings. Continue to a charming papal farmhouse for a private cooking class, where fresh, seasonal ingredients inspire traditional dishes prepared under the guidance of an expert chef before returning to Rome. From crisp, blistered crusts to fresh tomato and mozzarella, its roots are firmly Neapolitan. After lunch, enjoy a walking tour through Naples' historic streets, passing workshop-lined lanes, neighborhood squares, and layers of architecture from different eras. Later this afternoon, board your ship and set sail along the coast toward Amalfi.

Wake up to one of the most magnificent shorelines in the Mediterranean Sea in Amalfi; 34 miles along the Amalfi Coast have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are a perfect example of a Mediterranean landscape with a scenery of great cultural and natural value. Ride a tender ashore as you choose the excursion that interests you most. Join a local guide for a walking tour of lemon-scented Amalfi, Italy's oldest maritime republic, that includes a visit to 9th-century St. Andrew's Cathedral in the Piazza del Duomo and a scenic cruise along the Amalfi Coast.
