Overview

A winter journey along Iceland's south coast, from Reykjavík to the glacier country of the southeast, with guided Northern Lights searches over three evenings.

Experience Iceland in winter on a small group journey from Reykjavík to the glacier-filled landscapes of Vatnajökull National Park. Travel through the Golden Circle and dramatic South Coast, discover Icelandic geology and rural heritage, meet Icelandic horses, and relax in the mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon.

With three evenings dedicated to Northern Lights exploration, including guided searches by coach and on foot, the itinerary gives you several opportunities to see the aurora beneath Iceland's dark winter skies.

From geothermal landscapes and powerful waterfalls to black beaches, floating icebergs and traditional turf architecture, Icelandic Lights brings together some of the country's most distinctive winter experiences in six days, at a pace that leaves room to take places in rather than rush through them.

Highlights

  • Search for the Northern Lights across three evenings, on foot and by coach, beneath the dark skies of rural Iceland
  • Stand in the rift between two continents at Þingvellir, where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart
  • Watch Strokkur erupt at the Geysir geothermal field, and Gullfoss thunder into its canyon
  • Travel the South Coast to Jökulsárlón, where icebergs drift through a glacial lagoon and wash up like glass on the black sand of Diamond Beach
  • Meet Icelandic horses at Friðheimar, and taste rye bread baked in the geothermal ground
  • Discover Iceland's volcanic landscapes and heritage at the LAVA Centre and Skógar Folk Museum
  • Close with a soak in the mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon
