Overview
16 days from Calgary to Vancouver
Welcome to Calgary! More fun than a 10-gallon hat can hold, it’s no wonder the Calgary Stampede is “the greatest outdoor show on Earth.” This celebration of the Old West brings frontier days to life with entertainment and exhibits, great food, world-famous Chuckwagon horse races, and the Calgary Stampede Rodeo. Then continue your adventure through the majestic Canadian Rockies and awe-inspiring Banff National Park for two nights. Explore by hiking or horseback riding, shopping in town, or taking an optional helicopter tour for magnificent aerial views of the Canadian Rockies! Stop at gorgeous Lake Louise, its turquoise waters perfectly mirroring the surrounding glacial peaks. Then visit the Columbia Icefield to ride on the Ice Explorer across ice measuring 750 feet thick! Journey further into the breathtaking wilderness of Jasper National Park and enjoy a two night stay. Have time to explore the park’s towering mountains and abundant wildlife with the opportunity to join an optional excursion to Maligne Lake and the much-photographed Spirit Island. En route to Prince George, see Mount Robson, the highest of Canada’s Rockies at nearly 13,000 feet, and visit Mount Robson Provincial Park. Next board VIA Rail’s Skeena train for a memorable all-daylight journey through the rugged Coast Mountains. Retrace the steps of the ancient First Nations trading routes and follow the paths of the earliest fur traders before arriving in Prince Rupert for a two-night stay. Visit the North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site and take a guided tour of British Columbia’s oldest cannery village. Your adventure continues by ferry with a fantastic voyage on the Inside Passage through some of the world’s most spectacular scenery to watch for whales, sea lions, porpoise, eagles, and other wildlife. Overnight in Port Hardy, then make your way south to charming Victoria where sightseeing includes Bastion Square, the Inner Harbour, and Thunderbird Park with its interesting collection of totems poles. Enjoy free time to shop, have high tea at the Empress Hotel or perhaps take an optional excursion to magnificent Butchart Gardens. Set sail across the picturesque Strait of Georgia and Gulf Islands for an arrival in Vancouver to see city highlights including Stanley Park, Chinatown, and more. With stunning national parks, a scenic train ride, a spectacular Inside Passage cruise, visits to charming towns and vibrant cities, and experiencing the Calgary Stampede, this amazing value tour is not to be missed!
